with Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton (and of course, their hats)!

Large Edwardian hats are my weakness. I must own one one day.

Or all of them!
All three would definitely help a person feel taller! I would definitely urge you to get all 3 as they're all great! Now I'm in the mood to watch My Fair Lady ...
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure I'd look good in a hat but these are amazingly beautiful. I love the clothing in general and since I'm not overly into fashion I've been amazed at the discovery of this the past several months.
ReplyDeleteaaa I really love the hats especially them do it with " hay" " canotiers"
ReplyDeleteI want to make an outfit like this !!
And I love the youngest sister
when she wore the "sultan" outfit at the end of the last episode !!
Hats are gorgeous, but how is the show so far? Any reviews?
ReplyDeletetest1212, I'm thoroughly enjoying the series but I might be a little biased since Hugh is one of my fave actors! Well-crafted drama!
ReplyDeleteLadies...and gentlemen, if there are any reading this...you really have to have an attitude to wear a hat for other than keeping your head warm. Give yourself permission to have the attitude then give yourself permission to wear the hat! I bought a beautiful felted wool cloche last winter. I can hardly wait to wear this year. I should look even better with my new hairstyle which is reminiscent of the 20's. I would love to go out in public with such amazing hats as shown in this movie. I think it would only take a few of us to get it started. The future bride of Prince William can be inspiration.
ReplyDeleteStephiti, glad to hear that you're proud to wear your cloche! I'm still at the admiring stage but happily so!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally enchanted by the hats and dresses they wear.Especially the purple ones.I would like to have them too:)

ReplyDeleteHey do you know if there is a website wear I can watch "The Abduction Club" online. It looks really good and I would like to see! Thanks
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteSorry I don't know of any place to watch Abduction Club. You're not alone, that's the one I've heard the most requests for! I suggest you try and track down the DVD as I've been told that as soon as someone posts it on Youtube they get a warning to remove it.
I'm with Stephiti. I would love to wear hats like this for spring. I live in Atlanta, GA, USA; and, we wear hats-often very elaborate ones. Especially to church. Does anyone know where I might find one of these hats to buy? Or, a milliner who would make one? I especially love the hats worn by the Sybil and Mary characters. The Cora character's hat at the flower show does remind one of the hat worn to the races by Kathryn Hepburn in My Fair Lady. So glad to find this website.
ReplyDeleteymoss, sorry but I don't know where you can purchase hats like these. Glad you stopped by the site!
ReplyDeletei'm a milliner and my newer hats are totally inspired by downton abbey www.miriamleala.etsy.com

ReplyDeleteGood luck with your etsy store! Love hats!
I'm about to check out that Etsy store . . . I collected a lot of Edwardian hats and wore them on a daily basis in the 1980s. Maybe I can start wearing them again.
ReplyDeleteThese are new-made hats. A Milliner (or several) made the hats for this show which is fabulous. They were made in the same style using the same techiques that the hats would have been made with is the early part of the century. You can learn these skills, and make your own hats, or you can purchse similar hats from a milliner on ETSY or through other sites on the internet.. You can have your very own
