A very loose adaptation of Shakespeare's tale of doomed lovers...
"Directed by Kelly Asbury (co-director of Shrek 2) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors." Other actors who provide voices include:
Michael Caine, Jason Statham, Maggie Smith, Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant, Matt Lucas, Jim Cummings, Julie Walters, Richard Wilson and Ozzy Osbourne

The Young Victoria - interview with scriptwriter Julian Fellowes
I love the passion that Julian Fellowes has for British history and for Queen Victoria especially. Given that his wife is the former Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Michael of Kent, he had the luxury of access to royal documents in writing the screenplay for this royal biopic.
For those who wonder how true the film was to Victorian history, I like how Fellowes addresses some of those points in this interview. I had previously linked to a similar interview with him but it was removed from Youtube.
I wonder if anyone has not seen this film yet...and if not, what are ya waiting for?? :)
(Yes, I adore this film so pardon my obsessing over it!)
Dark Passion - alternate universe video
I don't normally watch 'alternate universe' videos but the fact that veryval combined two of my very favourite dramas, I just had to watch! Seeing Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) and Richard Armitage (North & South) paired up had me captivated :)
Storyline explained by veryval:
Many years ago John (A successful cotton mill owner) and Victoria (daughter of a nobleman) were close friends before Victoria and her family left London to settle elsewhere.
During this time a riot broke out at the mill and Margaret , the daughter of a friend of John`s family, saves his life .
He realizes that Margaret is in love with him and after some persuasion from his mother is convinced that the honourable thing to do would be to marry her.
Victoria soon returns to London . John and she both realize that they have feelings for each other but John is already married and Victoria is to be engaged to Albert - a wealthy young Duke.....
(There is no definite ending because I wanted to give it that movie trailer feel ;)

Gulliver's Travels (2010)
Gulliver's Travels is an upcoming live-action adventure film directed by Rob Letterman and based on the 18th century novel of the same name by Jonathan Swift, starring Jack Black as Gulliver.
"Gulliver's Travels, which was written in 1726, remains one of the classic works of English literature. The author used his tall tales to satirise the society of his day in a manner that can be somewhat confusing to the modern reader unacquainted with the vagaries of life at the court of George I. It remains to be seen how much of the spirit of the original novel Hollywood will use: previous adaptations have taken severe liberties with the source material and tended to excise much of the satire." From the Guardian
Cast:
I smile when I hear James Cordon's name thinking of this comedy skit that he did for Red Nose Day with the British football team. I loved seeing David Beckham trying to keep a straight face.
Emily Blunt spoke about the film:
"People who are very loyal to the book I'm sure will have their qualms about the fact that we've made this a kind of romping comedy. But it's still very funny.
"I love Gulliver's Travels because it's really smart. It's not fart jokes. You know what I mean? It's not fart jokes. There's not a fart joke in sight. Don't worry. It's very smart and witty. And it's great for kids and adults. There are the in-jokes for the adults. I loved that script. It's great."
As for playing a character who's "not very bright", Blunt added: "I had a really good time with that. I'm a little Lilliputian. Yeah, I'm a little person. I'm obviously only taking on roles where people have to bow to me. I mean, that's literally all I'm doing right now. Queens or princesses, so take your pick."
In another interview, Emily said "I did three films in a row wearing a corset. I think my inner organs by the end of it were like: ‘Are you kidding? You’ve got to stop. You have to give us a break."

Another quote from Emily Blunt: "And, Gulliver’s was a blast. It was just heaven to work with Jack [Black]. Everyone should run to work with him ’cause he’s awesome. And, I got to play a princess. Obviously, I’m only taking on roles where someone will curtsy to me."
