With Gratitude, I Bid Thee Farewell

When I began posting about my favourite period dramas on Enchanted Serenity almost 4 years ago, I had no idea of the adventure that lay ahead of me. What started out as a simple way for me to collect information of beloved dramas and find out more about upcoming films has developed into so much more. It has been wonderful to interact with others who also love period dramas, fashion, literature, art, etc. - all things from the days of old! In fact, there are so many who share these interests that it is difficult to find the time to pay a visit to their blogs and stay updated! My apologies!

As much as I love period dramas and the connection I've felt with those who share this passion, I have for some time now felt convicted that I need to step back from the blog. I’ve tried to curtail the time I spend exploring the past so that I can attend to real life in the present but after praying about it, I feel peaceful about my decision to ‘retire’ for the time being.

Enchanted Serenity will not be taken down. If it is found to be useful, I would love for fans of period drama to continue to use the information gathered. For the time being, I will continue to update the Facebook page "Period Movies" regarding upcoming films.

Thank you to all who have stopped by, commented and e-mailed! It has been so comforting and a delight to know that those of us who love this genre of films are not alone!

Cheers!

  1. How will the fans of your blog survive? I was SO happy to stumble into it earlier this year. I do hope you"ll post occasionally and not "retire" completely.

You've done a FANTASTIC job and I will miss my daily fixes. Thank you SO very much! Enjoy your holiday season.....Carla in Austin, TX

  2. Thank YOU for putting all of this together. Your blog has been a source of information about all the latest period dramas for those of us that enjoy that genre.

Hopefully, as Carla said, you'll post some after a nice break from blogging. =)

  7. this is sad to hear! this is one of my favorite blogs for two years and it's such a rich source of information. it was the first place i learned about so many period dramas, including the constant posting of Downton Abbey in the weeks leading up to its premiere. good luck!

  8. This honestly makes me very sad, because I look forward to your blog everyday. It's like you can read my mind and tell me everything I'm wondering about before I even ask. But I am glad that you are doing what's right for you. Thank you so much for your blog! I hope you find what you're looking for in this time of transition :)

  9. I fully understand your decision, even as I am sorry to see you go. Thank you so much for leaving this blog here, though. It's way to lovely to be lost.

I'm not fully blogging at the present time, myself. Still commenting now and then, when I have the time... Still making entries on this old Blogger blog of mine... Still taking photos and putting them on this old photo-blog, too...

But not allowing Comments. And this way, I am not truly still in Blog Land. And this way, I am not letting the guilt-of-having-to-comment-in-the-blogs-of-others... resurface. :-) So far, it's working for me. If it no longer works for me, I will change.

    Enjoy your decision!!!

Your blog is wonderful and I will still be using it to look up other period dramas. From your blog, I have discovered so many new dramas, THANK YOU!

PS. Do you have any suggestions for other Period drama websites/blogs?

    Thank you,

  26. When I first saw the post, I'm afraid I very selfishly thought, "NO." I am ashamedly a lurker of this blog for the past year, but believe when I say this site has been a generous blessing! I cannot imagine the amount of time and energy and hard work you must have put into this work of art, but I hope you know it hasn't gone unnoticed. As the others have said before you, it's been a wonderful reference (especially for us Americans who are behind when the new English releases come out). You have opened the doors to so many GOOD pieces of work, it honestly can't be measured. This site has been a haven from endless internet searches, as well as provided in the aforementioned wealth of English media, not to mention the compilation of movies on youtube.

And even though I have never commented, I hope it doesn't severely takeaway from when I say the following: thank-you. Honest to God, thank you for your work, time, energy, investment, not to mention your grace and generosity.

That being said, I would also like to wish you the best. May your life be filled with all that is joyous, peaceful and kind. Please take much care!

    Sincerely,

    Ana

I know you have to do what you have to do but please keep us posted from time to time especially regarding upcoming dramas and movies. This has been and will be my savior and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for all of us.

So here is my eternal gratitude for all of the hard work and the endless hours you've put into making this a truly magnificent, resourceful blog.
