Thank you Julian Fellowes for your brilliant writing!
And thank you to the awesome cast for bringing to life such wonderful characters that have found their way into our hearts. Loved the first episode of the second season of Downton Abbey!
My favourite moment: Matthew and Mary's emotional reunion!

OH. MY. GOSH! All of us American viewers simply cannot wait to see series two of this heartwarming, emotional drama! It sounds/looks SO good - I am only sad about how Matthew and Mary's story "ends," unless, of course something changes.
ReplyDeleteSeeing Mary and Matthew together again will definately be one of my favorite moments too, CharleyBrown. =)
@Rissi
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see where the plot takes us with Matthew and Mary! The first episode did an excellent job of showing us that the romantic tension is still there! Eager to see the roller coaster ride that Julian Fellowes has in store! (for all the characters!)
I can't believe I missed this. Hope the older episodes come to DVD.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Charleybrown! CANNOT wait! And I love Sybil, but then, everyone does. =)
ReplyDeleteThe first series is actually on DVD, Tom. You can get it on Amazon.
Well.....since I write from Austin, Texas, I, too, must wait until January to view Season 2. At least, I own the Season 1 DVD.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, I must report that, this evening (Sunday the 18th), Season 1 was awarded four (4) of five (5) nominations broadcast at the 2011 televised Emmys: Julian Fellowes (best Writer), Maggie Smith (best Supporting Actress), Brian Percivel (best Director), and the series "Downton Abbey," itself, for best TV miniseries. Elizabeth McGovern was overtaken for "best Lead Actress" by Kate Winslet.
In addition, two (2) Emmys for "cinematography" and "costumes" were awarded last week at the Creative Arts Emmys.
Carla
so, where can I watch it? I'm in America and I don't know if I can wait until January!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't wait until January and you have money to burn, you could sign up with http://thetelly.net/ and watch "DA" simultaneous its Brit airing. However, I find this cost prohibitive on my budget, so I will wait for it to commence on January 8th in the USA on PBS' Masterpiece Theater!
ReplyDeleteCarla in TX
I LOVED the first episode! I don't want to spoil it too much but Bates and Anna!!
ReplyDeleteI was impressed at how stolid Thomas was, even though I hate him, lol. I think I can guess (sob sob) whose hand is going to get shot off. And WHY was Matthew's mum doing what she was doing with some of those men? Just a bit TOO do-goody.
ReplyDeleteI felt so sad for Mary. I don't get why she's such a stick in the mud about Matthew. For someone who had the torrid affair with whateverisnamewasandnowhe'sdead, she's sure dragging her heels.
Didn't you love the "looks aren't everything" line? I can hardly WAIT for more.

Hope it works for you as well as it did for me. I was panicking not being able to see it till January! GREAT episode!
The reunion was great, but the train station scene rivals that of North & South (and that's saying something as we all know!)
ReplyDeleteYou're a life saver! I just watched Episode 1. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCarla
I'm glad it worked for you Carla. I will be looking out for a posting of Episode 2 in the future. Hopefully we can find it as well!

Began to watch and just come to a scene with Lady Sybil and Branson (my favorite couple) and IT TURNED OFF! Oh, well. ~ cmr
ReplyDelete... "had just come to a scene ..."
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to watch this series in DVD :)
