Thank you ITV for creating such an awesome series and providing us with this preview of the next season!! (September 18, 2011 in the UK, January 8, 2012 in USA)
Downton Abbey will resume 2 years from where we left off: It will take place from 1916 to 1918 and the 2-hour Christmas special will be New Year’s Eve 1919. "Julian Fellowes is already storylining scripts for a third series, which will take Downton Abbey into the devil-may-care, swinging 1920s."

Here are some images of the Crawley family and the other beloved characters from Downton Abbey as they live through the reality of English life during World War I.

Old-Fashioned Charm
Yay! Another season to look forward to! Thanks for the post... it was exciting to view.
ReplyDeleteLove the costumes, as usual. Especially the shade of green on Maggie and the shade of red on Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteMary's suitor looks too old for her, but oddly hunky. Guess I'll never get over my love for older men. :-)
Why oh why must we inAmerica wait four months! What torture it will be!
ReplyDeleteThese images are gorgeous! I'm so in love with this series!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine containing my excitement as we get even closer to the airdate for the second season! LOVE DOWNTON!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I can't wait! But a two year time jump? That's a little much to me. I can see six months into the war, but not two bloody years (pun intended)! I hope they summarize what happened in the missed years. January is too far away.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to share this link with you. Some of the pictures are the same, but there are some you don't have. Yay Downton!

P.S. Anyone who wants some more background for this season should really read Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain. I just finished it, and it gave me a whole new understanding of WWI.
Poor Lady Edith. It looks like her sisters get romance but she isn't even mentioned. Despite her nasty resentment against Mary I hope she gets more screen time and character development. I can't help but feel bad for her.
ReplyDeleteSeptember 18, it's not to much too wait, fantastic!
ReplyDelete@minavilly you're right! I don't like this time jump as well.
@Gina
ReplyDeleteI really hope Mary has a real romance with Iain Glen's character. He's terribly appealing! I can't seem to help my attraction to men much older than myself either Gina! But I'm only 16!
Sansa
I can't wait! Why does it have to be so long before it comes out in North America? What about we Canadians? Do we get a couple months earlier than the U. S. because we're part of the British Commonwealth? Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteCome on September 18th!! Hurry up!:P
