  1. I'm sorry, but... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. So painful I had to stop at the minute mark.

  2. I agree with the aforesaid. It was painful.

  3. Is this really coming out in theatres? I thought it was like a low-budget school project.

  4. Surprisingly, I have seen worse just a while back, also a cheap modern version with teenagers...stupid dialogues, horrible acting. I'd rather recommend the Jane Austen Book Club or Becoming Jane as modern versions...

  5. @Lora,
I'm not sure if it's being released in theatres.

    @Anonymous,
It would be great in a way to have a fun modern version of P&P (like Clueless was for Emma) but personally I'm not looking for any new adaptations.

But I did want to post this for those who've been asking about it.

  6. Wow I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that was horrible - for most of the preview it seemed like they were taking the script from the 1995 BBC version and just updating the costumes and locations and casting very bad actors. Clueless was a great modern adaption but it wasn't trying to be Emma - it was truly updated for today's world in terms of location and dialogue. If anyone else needs a good laugh at a modern update there was the "mormon" version done back in 2003 that is still pretty bad but I found it funny, although not comical more like a farce. At least they tried to update things for the 21st century.

  7. Ummm, is this for REAL??? Please tell me it's a spoof....

  8. Is it a home-made self-produced something? Let's hope so. Maybe it will just made available on the web.

  9. At least I'm not the only one thinking that the script and acting was pretty false at times. Or it seemed to be.

If they want a modern re-telling of P&P, why don't they stick to Bride and Prejudice. Yes, it's Bollywood, but it's very well done! Love it, all the way!

  10. ick!

(I actually like the Mormon version, for itself, lots of cute ideas, but did pretty well updating P&P too)

  11. At first I thought they were showing bits of the rehearsals. Then I realised this was the real thing. Don't like it, don't like it at all.
Thanks for posting though, I learned something anyway :)

  12. Wow.. I can't add anything to what's already been said. What a disappointment!

  13. It's so awesomely bad though that I'm gonna watch it for the second time.

  14. Ouch, wow ... ouch!! Please say this is a high school production, then this could be interpreted as cute and not unprecedented horror. The acting, the stuff nightmares are made of. Ouch!

  15. I liked the mormon version too. Darcy was really cute in that. Collins was disgusting, though. haha. I liked that they made Elizabeth a writer and that she studied Austen at uni. hehe. Nice touch. But it was a bit silly in parts. But still cute.

  16. I'll probably be watching this, regardless of how silly it is. I have to admit, Darcy had the brooding look going on pretty well in his first appearance.

  17. OMG, that was AWFUL! Did anyone else think the girl playing Elizabeth has a totally creepy vibe going? She always seems to have this crazy eyed stare in every scene. Not lovable as the character should be at all. What a joke, why would someone even do this? There are already so many good versions of the book.

  18. I agree with the person who said it was awesomely bad, hahahahaha!!! Must watch again even though my eyes and ears are burning

  19. Someone just posted this on the Razzie forum as a nominee for the worst movie trailer ever....I must say, it has my vote!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Holy crap, I came here from the Razzies message board too, this is possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. It's like a daytime soap but about a hundred times worse!

  21. Atrocious..this is an insult to a wonderful story. Someone should be slapped for making this.

  22. Wow, I am impressed at one thing - just when I thought it couldn't possibly get any worse, it did. I was actually wincing and cringing while watching that. What IS that?? It's like a preview for a home made movie or something?? I've edited together my own home videos that looked better than this.

  23. Words cannot express how truly awful this adaptation is.

  24. What a desecration...It made me sick.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Desecration is right! It seems unholy to take something so beautiful and make something so disgustingly awful. The script sounded like the BBC version but without British accents and the actors were all beyond awful. The one playing Elizabeth was especially horrendous. I feel like I need to go watch one of the other wonderful versions just to get the awful sound of their voices butchering the words out of my head.

  26. I didn't like how they borrowed from the 2005 adaptation where Elizabeth is walking and reading. I immediately see that it lacks creativity and as a historical romance writer, I don't think I could ever do that. It also looked like they borrowed from the 2005 version where Darcy visits Elizabeth after Lady Catherine leaves the Bennets and the shirt is open a little. Or were both parts in the book? I can't remember.

  27. Horrible doesn't even begin to sum that up, can I have the last few minutes of my life back?

    ReplyDelete
  28. what, the heck.....Elizabeth's stares are so creepy looking...and Darcy...oh help me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. WHY???? What were they thinking? How truly awful!

    ReplyDelete
  30. LMAO!! That was so awful, it was hilarious. Like a REALLY, REALLY bad low budget soap opera!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Painful! Is it possible to have less than zero chemistry? Elizabeth is creepy and Darcy is in pain. Worst casting/acting I've ever seen! This has to be the worst "rendition" to date...and it takes a lot to beat the Mormon version!

    ReplyDelete
  32. What on earth?? That was the most bizarre thing I think I've ever seen. Since when is Elizabeth supposed to look like a creepy psychopath? Those stares! Gave me the heebie jeebies! This was terrible, it can't possibly be a real movie right?!

  33. To be fair, the clip does start off saying "This preview has not been approved for ANY AUDIENCES"
