Top Ten Georgian Films

Here are the poll results of the most watched period dramas set during the Georgian era. Here are the top dramas set during the years 1714-1830 (11 are listed since two films were tied for 10th place).

  1. Georgian, Regency....got it straight now!

Poor Marie Antoinette. Such a gorgeous film and yet such a disappointment. Do you think it was Kirsten Dunst? She just seems so American and modern for the role. I may watch it again just because visually it was so beautiful, but the acting was truly bad.

I feel such contentment knowing that you share my assessment of the film. I feel that Kirsten was wrong for the role and that's what ruined it for me but having said that, look forward to a re-watch. I've found after the initial disappointment, 'bad' films tend to improve on second viewing! And the setting and costumes are gorgeous aren't they?

  3. Thanks for reminding me of Amadeus. It was such a fascinating and entertaining film on so many levels. It was one of the first films (besides childhood favourites) that I ever purchased.

Ah yes, Amadeus was one of my early favourites as well! Was totally captivated by it. Want to lend it to gal at work but fear she won't appreciate it. I'm currently watching Mozart musical which is fun! The costumes and quality of these French productions blow me away!

  5. The Patriot? PLEASE! Horrendous history, horrendous costume gaffes. They boasted about hiring the Smithsonian for accuracy, but ignored everything their curators told them about both civilian and military costume.
