Tobey Maguire has been cast in film adaptation of Yann Martel's novel "Life of Pi" (winner of Booker Prize).
The coming-of-age story revolves around a youth (Suraj Sharma) who is the lone survivor of a sunken freighter and winds up sharing a lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, an orangutan and a hungry Bengal tiger.
Maguire is set to play a writer who interviews the adult Pi ("Slumdog Millionaire" star Irrfan Khan) about his life-changing experience. Gerard Depardieu, Adil Hussain and Bollywood actress Tabu also star.
To be directed by Ang Lee (Sense and Sensibility) with script by David Magee (Finding Neverland).
