The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010)

"The year is 1912. Adèle Blanc-Sec, an intrepid young reporter, will go to any lengths to achieve her aims, even sailing to Egypt to tackle mummies of all shapes and sizes.

Meanwhile, in Paris, it's panic stations! A 136 million-year-old pterodactyl egg on a shelf in the natural history museum has mysteriously hatched, and the bird subjects the city to a reign of terror from the skies. But nothing fazes Adèle Blanc-Sec, whose adventures reveal many more extraordinary surprises...

Set in the carefree world before World War I, Adèle Blanc-Sec's adventures see the brave young woman fearlessly battling crooks, corrupt politicians, demon worshippers and mad scientists. Legendary cartoonist Jacques Tardi's original stories perfectly recreate the intrigue, romance and excitement of one of the most tumultuous periods in history."

Based on comic book series by Jacques Tardi.

This French film is now being made available with English subtitles.

  1. Thanks for this. I've been waiting for more information since Evangeline at Edwardian Promenade first mentioned the film.

  2. Elizabeth,
It feels like some films take longer than others to reach us, if at all! I posted about this way back in January 2010 not realizing it would take this long to become available! It's currently playing nearby in French but I think I'll wait for the English subtitles! Hope it comes to a city near you soon!

  5. I saw this in theaters when it came out last year in Paris. It was really quite good! The costumes and locations alone are worth watching the movie for, but the adventure is fun as well.
