CHRISTY by Catherine Marshall

Set in the Appalachians of Tennessee in 1912,
Christy, compared to Little House on the Prairie or Road to Avonlea
(with a young female teacher in a rural community),
sadly ended after just two seasons.
Based on book by Catherine Marshall, read more in earlier post.
Starring Kellie Martin as Christy Huddleston.

  1. "Christy" was such a wonderful program. Kellie Martin was perfect for the role. The replacement actress was adequate, and it was nice that there was some closure to the series, but it would've been nice to have seen it through to the end with Ms. Martin.

I should check it out again. I bet my girls would love it.

  2. I'd like to watch it again too as I missed some episodes. Seems Canadian tv will air one season and not the next! I just love the opening segment with the gorgeous view of the mountain range!

  3. Yes! I was 10 when Christy made its television debut and I LOVED it. I spotted the complete series on DVD a couple years back for $12 (!) and of course snatched it up. Over the years I've read the book by Catherine Marshall at least 100 times (highly recommended if you love the show)---my poor book is falling apart: http://flic.kr/p/6woChL

  4. aramblingfancy,
Poor book! Is that duct tape that I see? Glad that it's so lovingly treasured. I read the book soooo long ago that I should read it again!
