Andrew Lloyd Webber presents The Wizard of Oz

It's the classic story by L. Frank Baum that continues to be retold again and again. This time The Wizard of Oz is getting revamped by Andrew Lloyd Webber to be unveiled at the London Palladium on March 1st, 2011. After finding his Dorothy (Danielle Hope) through the television series Over the Rainbow, the musical will include Michael Crawford (Phantom of the Opera) as the Wizard and include new songs written by Webber and Tim Rice. (Webber and Rice had worked together on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita but 34 years have passed since their last collaboration.)

All I'm saying is that IF I lived close enough to London, I would love to attend!
Wishing that a certain baroness would go see it and tell me all about it!!

  1. I am soooooooooooooo excited about this, especially to see my very favorite singer back on stage!!! His Wizard is going to be amazing, I'm sure!!! I just wish I could see it in person...I'm sure it will be absolutely incredible! It would be wonderful if they should decide to have a special performance on DVD or something...

  2. Wow! Might they bring this to our Cineplex theatres in Canada like they are doing in March with the yummy Jonny Lee Miller on the London stage in Frankenstein? (March 17 and 31 for anyone interested). They will also be showing Zoe Wannamaker in The Cherry Orchard on June 30th.

Fingers crossed that The Wizard of Oz will come to "National Theatre Live"
