Colin Firth honoured on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Colin Firth ,"most recognized gent in period drama" was celebrated on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday! His star can be found right beside fellow British actor Emma Thompson, who just received her star last August!

Firth dedicated the honour to his Italian wife, "I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine Livia who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and truthfully. When I look down there at that star, it's her name I see."

During his speech, he joked: "I have a feeling I'm going to be here when I'm about 93 under a pile of blankets asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I'm the guy whose name is on the sidewalk - failing to recognise that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson."

Colin is considered a front runner to win Best Actor at this Sunday's Golden Globes for his role in The King's Speech and many are expecting/hoping that he'll receive an Oscar nomination later this month (January 25th) for his portrayal of King George VI.

Both Colin and Emma Thompson
have been entered into my Hall of Fame previously!

  1. Yippee for Colin. Loved his Emma Thompson comment...I think I'd like to have a pint at The Pig and Whistle!
Just heard that he won best actor at the Critics' Choice Awards. Oscar should follow now, right? Can't wait to see him dressed up for awards season. I wonder if Tom Ford is still dressing him?

  2. I'll join you at The Pig and Whistle!
I think I might cry if he doesn't win the Oscar :(

  3. Good for Colin! Now he must win the Golden Globe Award and then the Oscar.

  4. Love his irony on this official occasion but he WAS moved! 2010 has been a great year for Colin and now in 2011 he is getting all the acknoledgements and rewards he deserves for his whole career. I'm so happy for him!
Still waiting to see his King's Speech, coming out on 28th of January here in Italy.

  5. Oh Maria, can't wait for you to see it! It's such a special film!

  6. It's so wonderful to see Colin Firth being fully appreciated. He has done some tremendous work (A Single Man and The King's Speech most recently). Will be keeping everything crossed for him this weekend! Love this blog - keep up the great work!

  7. So exciting! Thanks for the news clip. That is wonderful!
I haven't seen the movie yet. I might have had the chance when I was in the city Christmas shopping but I was feeling really tired and ill then so I didn't go to the theatre at all. :( Sadly, I am awaiting the DVD release (as usual).

  8. Oh phylly, sorry to hear that you didn't have the chance yet! Seems to me like a good excuse for a road trip to Ottawa! I'll save you a seat!
