Here's a montage clip of Alfie Boe as Valjean in the 25th anniversary concert for Les Miserables! Can't wait for DVD and Alfie has a CD that's just been released.
I have the DVD for almost a month, and cried as usual. Get ready for the final minutes.Still, it can't beat the 10th anniversary concert (even if I never could stand Ruthie Henshall as Fantine). No other Fantine compares to Patti LuPone. But it is so curious how we came full circle: Lea Salonga, so immensely moving as Eponine is now Fantine.
Teresa I have seen it already and was surprised that I liked it as much as the 10th anniversary DVD which is the only other version I know! It was nice to see Salonga in both roles! I've not seen Patti Lupone except for some clips on Youtube. That's one thing about musicals, you hear about awesome performances but might not ever see them!
When I mentioned Patti LuPone as Fantine I meant the recordings, both the London and the Broadway originals. How I wish I could have had the chance to see her on stage! But I was fortunate enough to see her three times in the last ten years, and she is larger than life: Noises Off, Anything Goes and Gypsy, for which she received a Tony award. Her final rendition of Rose's Turn was breathtaking, and I was on first row center.
Teresa,Sounds like you had quite the experience to take in those performances!
I HAVE RETIRED FROM THE BLOG AND WILL NO LONGER BE DOING UPDATES. THANKS!
