You might also want to check out the group of photographs on Flickr set up by the BBC "celebrating how the British high street has changed from Victorian times right through to the modern day. We’re looking for your ‘photos in photos’ showing how your local high street has changed – whether it’s in the last year or over the last 100 years. So dig out your old family photos – or go along to your local library photo archive – and get involved. "

Ooh! I adore these sorts of reality shows! Any others without an historic reference are just no fun. Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT series! The video actually answered a couple of historical questions that I had for my NanoWriMo Victorian-set fiction. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to watch all of it but I love this style of series as well!
ReplyDeleteOh wow thanks for sharing this! I went and watched the entire first episode...I love the concept! Learned loads, too. As someone who makes her own bread every couple of days (*just* flour, no "filler" haha), was interesting to hear that Victorian bakers weren't expected to live past the age of 40...as much as I love period clothing/decor, I'm very thankful that SOME things have changed for the better! LOL!! Now can't wait for the Edwardian ep. :)
ReplyDeleteOh---have you heard of the show Boardwalk Empire on HBO? A friend just told me about it, and I'm off to find eps to watch...more period goodness! :)
ReplyDeleteSara, glad you enjoyed Turn Back Time! I have heard of Boardwalk Empire but its storyline isn't for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting this - I really enjoyed watching - and learning too! Will you be posting more of the episodes?
