In a
press release, Steven Spielberg of DreamWorks Studios announced Daniel Day-Lewis had been cast in the lead role as Lincoln with filming expected to begin in the fall of 2011 for release in 2012.
Spielberg said, "Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema's distant future. I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln".
Tony Kushner (winner of Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award) wrote the screenplay, which is an adaptation of Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln." The story will focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.

AMAZING. Can't wait! He's a dream!
ReplyDeleteThis will be another amazing film! Daniel Day-Lewis is certainly one of the renowned actor and would be the best to play the role.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it's going to be incredible!
ReplyDeleteDDL is a really amazing actor who luckily also bears a strong ressemblance to Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteI could also imagine another actor in this role -- Richard Armitage! Although his eyes are really so stunning I might be a bit too distracted...
