1776 Fan Video

Found this video which made me laugh!

I knew that Blythe Danner was in an older movie adaptation about the American founding fathers but I didn't know it was a musical. That makes sense now when I watched this video with clips of 1776 as to why William Daniels (John Adams) and members of Congress are strutting their stuff to Beyonce's song 'Single Ladies' !

Thanks to eowynssword42 for making it!

  1. That was funny. I love 1776! You really should watch it! If you ever watched Boy Meets World, you'll be interested to know that Mr. Feeny plays John Adams. Anyway, it's totally worth it. The costumes are gorgeous and I'm pretty sure they filmed on location.

  2. We watch 1776 every July 4th, and it contributed to my studying Early American History in college. As a musical it is superb; clever, witty, a good blend of purpose-filled music, and fantastic performances. As history, it's excellent. They take a few liberties with chronology and circumstance in order to patch together a narrative of events for which we have shockingly little documentation. Those liberties complement history well, however, and they do not detract from the historical detailing which is included. Much of the dialogue and lyrics are pulled directly from letters, speeches, and documents from the historical participants.

The recording has been restored and released on DVD, and it's available from Amazon.
