Of all the authors whose books have been adapted into film, Jane Austen stands head and shoulders above the rest. And of all her novels, Pride and Prejudice is my favourite - the tale of the 5 Bennett sisters and their mother's dire wish that they all be married at a time when marriage wasn't a luxury but instead a woman's main means of survival.
